My name is Cathy Spee. I studied advertising and computer animation at the university level in Bogota, Colombia, and near my current home in Miami. I teach art and art history to students in kindergarten through high school (kids are crazy fun to find inspiration in). As time passes, I use all of those skills to create compelling narrative illustrations.

With my very fulfilling teaching career (in other words, not a lot of money), I have been privileged to travel with students to Spain, Britain, and Italy. These travels have inspired me to write about and illustrate historical people, places, and other cultures. I believe that books can be entertaining as well as educational.
